Before my post got totally derailed, I was asking for a reason. I sold a custom made 2-10-2 on e-bay to a guy in Chicago, later finding out he has a company call Bayru Lli, an internet buying company. The guy ask me to send him the size of the package and wieght, because he was sending it to Russia. Four weeks after I sold it he sends me pictures of all kinds of damage and said he wanted him money back, because it was not as discribed. Witch leads me to believe he did send it to Russia and got destroyed and it was sent back to him and he is tring to make me pay for it. I was wanting to know if there where any Russian collectors that mite have bought this engine and more information. I was just being suttle, before asking anyone directly. [/b]

The plot thickens...
I found your engine on eBay and it's sister on YouTube. A stretched Mikado that looks very impressive. eBay 2-10-2

Yes, they look like they are a business to give access to Russian consumers on US eBay sales, I would assume they re-ship the items too. Bay.ru

It's a pity it came to grief. You should be able to verify the date he received the shipment from you which would raise the question if there was damage at that stage why didn't the buyer make a claim then?
I have never bought or sent anything to Russia but from what I have read damage is common and insurance is not always available.
Particular shaped boxes get punished especially if there is some weight in the enclosed item. Long boxes get dropped on their end so there can be much 'shunting' and shock within. No movement and foam padding at each end helps.
I hope you sort it out as it is not fair for someone to pass their problem on to you if they were shipping it elsewhere. It seems the world is all too full of asshats like that.

Well, so much for subtle. So you were hoping that the Russian buyer was reading MLS?

Next time you do this, warn people like me that you want to stay incognito, rather than me bragging about your creations! ;-)

Greg

I'd say the warranty on the loco being what was stated, only applied to delivery to the Bayru Lli USA location.

Even if it had been packed inside a wooden case, you can't guarantee it's condition going through customs and the like.

Pangea!

From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth." Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!

I've got this one solved. If/after this wife goes, I'll just "hire" live in help to take care of me. Of course she needs to be about 20 years younger than me so she can take care of me into old age. She will fit the description of a '50's wife (i.e., cooks, cleans, treats me like a king, etc.) living with me (so she can massage those nighttime leg cramps) here in the hills with most of her day as leisure time and will be well taken care of and very well paid for her efforts. If that one doesn't work out, there are plenty more.

Thats what I was hoping for Greg. The funny thing is, weather he sent it to Russia or not, after looking at the pictures, the windows where out of the cab. The only way those could be knock out, is they took it out of the box and dropped it. It was packed to good for the cab roof to be raised far enough to get those window out.[/b]

I agree with Randy. If he didn't submit a claim when it arrived in Chicago, you should be off the hook. It is his responsibility after that. If he didn't open it up to check it when he received it, TOO BAD FOR HIM. Chuck

I expect I'm the only one from Russia here. The second one wrote a few posts and seemed to have dissapeared. If you want to ask your question to Russian railroaders, you'd better do it here http://www.forum.modelldepo.ru/forumdisplay.php?s=a0e699b4d15c1f35d6aca52f4748e7e2&f=199 Try to do it in English or better in Russian with the help of Bing or something else or I could help you translate. But one thing paid my attention - you said that delivery to Russia and back to the USA had taken 4 weeks, did I catch it correctly? I think it's impossible, it would take much more time. That's the reason why I never order anything in internet-shops in the USA, only GB or Germany.
