Looking to sell or swap my 24t Catatonk Shay, runs excellent as can be seen in the video, gas fired, full Stephenson valve gear on slide valve cylinders. Original box, serial number 21. Really want to be able to order the new Aster Porter 2-6-0 but open to other engines. I thru up a price, open to offers Thanks in advance. Here is a video of it running a couple weeks ago at a steamup at ILS in Indiana.

I'm not interested in trading, but some free input: that loco can barely pull itself. It has terrible gearing. I have 2 of them and still cannot pull any grade with the heavyweights.

Live steam Greg, not electric. Only looking for Live Steam powered models. I would also consider one of the Roundhouse SRRL Forneys in trade. That being said, ones choices for postwar PRR steam is limited, be it electric or live steam powered. Bad gearboxes can be changed, poor pulling is most likely an engine balance issue with the weight not be fully transfered to the drivers. The HO Bachmann K4's were bad pullers as well. PRR ran the K4's double headed on the Broadway Limited till the T1 and M1a started holding down the assignment.

sorry, I forgot they made this AML model in both!
in this case, the electric one, needed a Pittman planetary gearbox in an unusual gear ratio... and I have been looking for 2 of them for years... but that is not your problem...
Best of luck on finding what you want, I like the looks of the model, and the fact that the prototype still exists and is being or has been restored is great

Thanks, she is a sweet runner. I updated the ad, put a price on it, open to offers. Really wanting to order the new Aster Porter 2-6-0 thats due out soon(hopefully). But open to other engines as well.

Nice loco. I know some Catatonk locos large minimum operating radius requirements due to drive shaft travel restrictions. Any idea of minimum radius curve this one requires>
