Hi Bill : I am very fascinated by the way you use wood working tools like the table saw to make the beading, and also the way you machine cylinder blocks (i forgot the American name, in French it's toupie). Thanks very much for your fabulously detailed descriptions of how to do it.
I should start on a french Three wheel tender very soon. I will make a post of progress.
Cheers, Simon

The tender is nearing completion now.
The oil tank is soldered up from 1/32 brass sheet similar to the main tender box and a pump, hatch and light are added.

Piping is added to the pump and the tank is painted in low gloss black

The fuel tank is made from a 2" copper pipe with .080 thick plate ends silver soldered in. The filler valve has a riser which just makes it easier to access. I have to make it in two parts in order to allow room for the valve vent hole.

The riser on the left and the gas valve on the right are silver soldered on.

And it is then pickled in citric acid.

And painted. The knob for the gas valve is made to look like a water hatch.

Accucraft arch bar trucks are installed and the position to the engine is determined. I want it as close to the engine as possible but I need to be able to access the throttle lever which I haven't made yet as I needed to get to this point first, It looks like a long lever will be best here.

My tender hand pump is in series with the axel pump so it is handy for priming the axel pump should it need it. Here is a drawing I did years ago and use as a refresher now and then
Image

I am using a 1/2" hex cylinder with a 3/8" plunger. The bore is drilled to 1/64" under size and then reamed out.
I cut a 1/8" wide slot in the top of the cylinder where the handle bracket goes

Here is the completed pump. The pump is tested by setting it in a plastic bowl and pumping it a few times to get all of the air out. I then hold my finger over the outlet and make sure I can't move the handle and there are no leaks.

So in the tender we have left to right: The gas control knob made to look like a hatch, The fuel tank with its filler valve, The hand pump handle and holder, The hand pump and finally, the pump return tube.

Here is the inside of the cab. Left to right are: The water level sight glass, Pressure gauge, Filler valve top and throttle bottom and steam manifold with two valves for boiler blowdown and tender water warmer

Here is a side view of the completed engine

And a couple of different views
