I get an error message, ...not authorized." My 1st class renewal, 2 year membership, was done on 11/3/2015 - per receipt. What's up?

Can't access my messages either.

Admin Lee,
there has been some progress! "thank you" to whoever has been working on it! :)
We now have 2-way FTP communication restored, we can now upload files again, using a FTP program.. thats great! but there are still two issues to be resolved before we are "back to normal"

1. We really need access to our MLS storage restored by accessing:

http://1stclass.mylargescale.com/

That was the main log-in and file exchanging mechanism, via a browser..
yes, FTP is working, but FTP is very inconvenient: you need to download a FTP program, learn how to use it.. its rather user-unfriendly..if we could have the old web-interface restored, via the link above, that would be great!

2. 1st class members who's usernames begin with the letter A through S never lost their files in this outage..they only lost access to the files. However usernames beginning with T through Z have lost all their files completely..the files appear to be gone..If those could be restored from backup, plus item #1 above, that would get us back to normal.

thanks!

Open Windows Explorer. Click on Desktop and them click the "address bar". Desktop should highlight and let you erase it.

Enter "ftp://1stclass.mylargescale.com" and hit enter.

Up will pop a Log In As window. For the User Name put in petethornton@1stclass.mylargescale.com or vsmith@1stclass.mylargescale.com or whatever user you are. Then add the password and hit the Log On button.

Voila!

You can use windows explorer to copy your files to some place on your computer. I had no problem copying a whole directory-full of photo files. Remember that CTRL-A will select ALL the files, then just drag or 'copy' them to a folder on your computer.

Edit: Found I can't upload files using FTP or Windows Explorer. I get an error, so no pics to illustrate this process.

I have been able to get to my files (Upload, Download and Delete) via Pete's instructions quoted here from a different thread about the same problem.

But I am not able to "view" an image file this way... it wants me to log-in again, but won't accept anything I put in. I have to download the file to my PC and then I can view it.

I am also unable to download a Google Earth ".KMZ" file. This worked at one time, but I think Shad had to modify some filters to allow it (the system was originally set up to only allow photo [.BMP, .JPG, etc.], text and .ZIP files.). But .KMZ files have not worked for a long time, at least close to just after the site was sold.

I am still unable in (Windows 10) to mount the web-space as a "Drive" that has a drive letter assigned (like "M:", etc.) like I did at one time in Windows 7. The method above has to be repeated if I close the Windows Explorer window and want to access the web-space again.

Old threads have been stripped of my missing pictures, in a space I paid for.... I guess we can scratch the MY from the site .....

Tommy,
I don't have any confidence that this will get fixed. The administrator I think figures the problem has been taken care of because they they made a ticket on it. I don't use ftp so I can't get to anything either. My fault I guess for trusting in someone else to store files for me.

If anyone has lost photos you may be able to dig some of them up here... (2129 results)
http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.mylargescale.com/1stclass/*

If you just want to dig up your own ones, modify the URL below. I have used 'vsmith' for example. (15 results)
http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.mylargescale.com/1stclass/vsmith*

Click on the link to see the entire URL in your browser then modify it with your own MLS user name. Don't forget the wildcard at the end*
(The entire URL is visually truncated on this page.)
Hope this helps in case you have no other copies and they don't get this problem sorted out.

Thanks Garret, I still have almost all of my pics stored on thumbdrives, what I don't have is any hosting site. What's really irritating is the lack of information on what's going on here. It's getting close to a month now and I don't believe we'll have any resolution until next year at this point but I would like to know what happened and if it's fixable or if those of us who lost our sites should start looking for a better solution, it's the lack of communication that's not helping the situation.

This is not magic nor rocket science... have your tech look at the files and code from a backup copy of the site (you are making backups, aren't you?) and compare what was there a month ago with what is there now and fix it. It is possible that someone hacked the site and deleted files or altering some and screwed it up. It is also possible that someone in your organization deliberately (maybe not maliciously, but as part of a clean up or problem resolution) modified some files. Just put it back the way it was and we will all be happy.

So lee: If you still work there, exactly what happened to this ". . . take a look??"

thanks Lee,
yes, the storage quota is likely part of the issue, but its only 1/3 of the issue, and the smallest concern of the issues.

1. The previous upload interface at: http://1stclass.mylargescale.com/
has disappeared. Thats how most people log-in to access their storage space. We can use FTP, but FTP is clunky and annoying. We really need that web interface restored.

2. There has apparently been a storage quota issue. Several us were allowed to go over the "official" 100 MEG storage limit in the past, and it wasnt a problem that we were over the limit, and we could still upload and manage our files. Now we have to be under 100 MEG before we can upload new files. That, by itself, isnt a major problem, since our limit has always been 100 MEG...but only those that have used FTP can get into our storage to delete some files, if we are over.

3. The biggest problem. Members who's usernames begin with the letters T through Z have had ALL their files disappear..Their files no longer exist, and need to be restored from backup. A test was done where someone logged into an account of a username in that T to Z range, and the directory was in fact completely empty. He was able to do a test upload to the empty directory, which did work.

So, to summarize:
1. We need http://1stclass.mylargescale.com/ interface back.

2. Quota does now apparently need be under 100MEG. (if that could be boosted to say, 125 MEG, no one would need to delete any files.)

3. Usernames T through Z have lost all their files, and need them restored.

Paul,
When Shad was the owner of MLS and the ONE keeping this site running, I believe he felt that he "owed" it to us to keep this "family" together.

Under the "stewardship" of this NEW owner, we are a very small cog in a very large wheel. There is really no priority to get this thing fixed. Frankly, there are quite a few members on this site that could have this fixed very quickly. I think the trouble started many months ago when we were all told to "reset" our passwords because of the so-called breach.

In other words, "Don't hold your breath". :)
