How many strands to people typically remove from the Aster wick bundle on the Berkshire? I can't recall if it was 5, 10, 15?

Finally got my axle pump working properly (new pump ram and banjo fitting from Aster) and need to re-tune my wicks.

Thanks,
Mark

Try taking the bundle and splitting a full length of original in half per can , cut at 12 MM above the tube and add/subtract as necessary(according to running characteristics. You want the wicks to be loose, just a tap to remove them (upside down). Don't forget that the wicks will stick to the pots after a few burnings, so they will "pack" them selves. Add wicks if too much fire and subtract a few strands of wicks if not hot enough.

Thanks Charles. Sounds like my wicks are way too packed at the moment. I'm not sure I understand your comment about splitting a full length of original in half per can. Does this mean a single strand, cut in half has sufficient material to populate one can?

Not single strand but single bundle (as per grouping of strands taped together via Aster supplies) cut in half making two grouping of strands one per grouping of strands per can. Then trim strands to 12 mm for height in can. One of the indicators as to proper grouping is to turn upside down tap it and if the strands come out easily then it should be a good starting point.
