How do you paint white metal and brass? I'm making a set of Northeast narrow gauge log buggies, which contains brass and white metal parts. Is there a chemical "blackner" I should use instead? Thanks

Kevin,

Chemically blackening the "white metal" might work. An alternative is just washing the part well, painting with primer(I like black) and painting with the finish color. I used to do a lot of painting of white metal and haven't had problems. See some of the models on my web site.

One of the interesting things you can do with white metal is after you paint it, you can rub the high points and get some really good weathering effects.
