I'm here too, though I dont consider myself an "old timer" maybe others are just too busy to check in, busy time of year for alot of people. Taxes, budgets etc.

Chas click "Community" in the toolbar, it will show a list of whos online and where they are.

I think the lack of usual activity is due to a combination of things - winter time, format change, its subsequent crash and then the flip flop back and forth. Old folks can only handle so much change.

Actually, traffic on the web site is higher than before the change over to the new system. The numbers thing have more to do with people not being logged in anymore and the new forum determining whether you're online or not differently.

A week or so ago, I had one IE7 'tab' open to the "Community" page just to monitor what was being displayed. I had another 'tab' open to the "Active Forum Topics" page.  I would then open several other 'tabs' to the entries from the "Active Forum Topics" list to read them (and maybe respond).

Periodically I would refresh the "Community" page and I found that my online name would most of the time show me as being in "Home", and a few times as being in "Forums". Once or twice I remember being listed as in "Community", but often my name would not be in the list at all.  It did not seem to matter what I did LAST before refreshing the "Community" page, the location listed for my name changed sometimes and my name sometimes just wasn't there at all.

I have assummed that there is some timeout on server accesses and if I take too long reading the several 'tabs' I have opened then the server deletes me from the list and does not add me back until I access something and maybe the "refresh" of the "Community" page sends me the data before the list actually gets updated to show that I am accessing the web site.  But, there seems to be some sort of delay in updating the list, too... like maybe it is a low priority process and if the server is busy the list is not updated in a timely manner.

Maybe you are not seeing a lot of users on-line because some of us are being timed-out on accesses and thus don't show in the list even though we are actually active at the time????

Holy smoke! I had no idea that being listed as 'online' was THAT complicated!!! I had just been scrolling down to the bottom of the Forums page to see who was there. And I did wonder if many of the regulars were showing up as guests...

The other night I logged in for chat. There were only two of us listed as being on the site but when I got into chat there was nine people in
there. Me thinks there might be a problem with the counter.

Joe,

I have been told that the chat software and MLS software are not the same.  So the counter for the chat room will not match the members logged online.  Also, there appears to be a problem with the "Who is Online" not showing an accurate count.  If you go to "Community" at the top of the page and click on the word "Community" it will take you to a page that shows who is logged on and where they are.  It is a little confusing and requires extra work to find it, but Shad has submitted the problem to the developer.  All we can do is wait it out, but in the meantime, that's what you have to do to find who is online.

Becky

CORRECTION:  At this very moment when I logged on I went to "Community".  I'm not there.  So it apparently  has a problem also.
