MY vote, a nicer dinner Friday night somewhere. If we end up wanting to do pizza saturday afternoon out by the steam tracks, that's ok by me too..

We have found that there are now several great places to eat in the area nearby at Victoria Gardens.

Trouble with going to lunch outside the venue either day during the show is the no in-out parking if you've parked at the convention center. Only those who have hotel parking will be able to participate.

I think the BYO steamtrack lunch could be a good idea, I just wish we had a better selection of lunch choices there at the venue.

I know the BEST place for RIBS out there, at "Lucilles" in Victoria Gardens, even if we dont go as a group, its worth a trip if you like ribs, this place is outstanding, just be sure to call ahead for reservations as the wait to get into the place on a weekend can be downright painfull!

In the same place theres a great seafood place, Kings, a great italian place, Sisleys, a Cheesecake Factory, and other places so finding something thats appetizing is not a problem there, but it can get crowded at night.

I don't believe we'll be able to be at the steam tracks once the show closes. What is that... 6PM? One of the disadvantages of the new venue.

They made no attempt to make us leave at anytime last year.  In fact, I am going to try to stay in my trailer this year in the parking lot.  Security and the ones in charge of the colloseum were much nicer than the people at QM.  I am also giving some thought to inviting some of my music friends down to do some acoustic jamming in the afternoon/evening.  Too early to see if they are interested.  But if anybody wants to join in feel free

I am going to the Aristo Hobo dinner.   I have a car for every year that I have been to the Big train show.   It would be nice  if  all from MLS that are going to the hobo diner sit together.

As far as anything else goes I will see what happens.

PS  I got a  hankering  for  BANANA'S FOSTER. any one know of a place near the  convention center that serves it?

Like John, I'll be attending the Bachmann and USA dinners this year.  Brian has asked me to "take pictures" at both events so I'll be stepping back in time to my "professional duties" as a fertogruffer....   /DesktopModules/NTForums/themes/mls/emoticons/hehe.gif

For the first couple of years at the Queen, we had 2 or more tables of MLS people at the banquets and it was a blast.  @ $38 for the dinners, it ain't' too bad considering a meal in a "nice" diner supper club  restaurant with tip would come mighty close to the same tab.

I remember those years....and it WAS fun.  I especially recall the last time Fletch came to the show...and the first time Shad had an MLS booth...in the bowels of the ship... and meeting Marty Cozad for the first time...and Stan with his "famous" camera holding "pose" using a camera with no viewfinder.  Twas an exceptionally good night for all as I recall.  Very good company...but with standard "convention" food.

This poll was a general questionaire designed to gauge overall interest.  As we move toward the BTS, I'll post some more specific questions as to how many will go to Event X...to get a head count.  Some of the events require making reservations...and some require us to commit now....like the Bachmann or Aristo banquets.

From what I can see in the responses so far...it's looking like folks would like to go to a place like Lucilles on Friday night...and are less interested in a Saturday night planned dinner.  Perhaps, we should think about having an MLS table at the Aristo banquet on Saturday....maybe two or three....and doing steaks/ribs/chicken at Luceilles on Friday night.  I'll post an Aristo banquet poll in a minute or so.

Since I'm "commuting" from the beach Saturday and Sunday, I like the Sunday breakfast idea, which got only six votes so far. I love dinners, but to enjoy my food and wine, then drive, what?, 50 miles, ain't a good idea these days. And no, I am not overnighting in Ontario, unless ya mean the Canadian province. /DesktopModules/NTForums/themes/mls/emoticons/tongue.gif
