Here is another short video from my little layout, changing from a1:32 scale French (see my previous video last month) to 1:20.3 scale narrow gauge American layout with just a change of structures.
The video opens with a visiting live steam SPC 4-4-0 hauling a set of Carter Bros "duckbill" coaches and my early Accucraft D&RGW C-16 278 doing the freight train.
The SPC loco was scratch built by Gordon Watson and while the SPC didn't really have red engines to my knowledge this colour was a request to Gordon as he built it for the first owner. The Carter Bros coaches were drawn by David Fletcher, who is well known here on MLS, and laser cut as kits to make up a very interesting train.
Hope you all enjoy another of my little video's. (yes I know, I should use a tripod as the handshake is a bit annoying!)

Hi bigsteam, that loco is another one built by Gordon Watson and it's an outside framed 2-6-0 owned by the same person who has the 4-4-0. Sadly I didn't get video of it running, maybe next time it comes to my track.

The reason I asked is that Gordon built a similar one for Torry Krutzke of Pikes Peak Loco Works and the coal fired K-27s of which I have one of 10 he built.. Somewhat different from the one in your video, it was visually patterned after one of D&RG's early standard gauge locos, No. 157 class 46S. This class was essentially a standard gauge T-12 with the bell between stack and the sand dome, unlike the T-12 with the bell between the steam dome and the cab. It is stunning looking

Hi bigsteam, just talked to Gordon and he says yes he did build it for Torry and he had forgotten he built it but happy it's still around.
Gordon Watson built a lot of, small run or one off, American locomotives and the one I thought was his best work was a narrow gauge (2ft gauge prototype) Mexican railways 2-8-2 outside framed loco that not only looked fantastic but was a piece of "watch-makers" art with all that full inside Stephenson's valve gear on a 32mm gauge loco. I wonder where in the USA it is now, if anyone has it and see's this, post a few pics I would like to see it again.

The big fan of Mexican railways is Vance Bass. He even had a yahoo based blog that he posted to about a Mexican Ray that he was building. Torry used to see him at Winn Erdman's various stamp/open houses. Maybe he knows the where about of the loco you mention.

I was the one who commissioned Gordon to build the FC Hornos 2 Foot gauge 2-8-2 back in 2004 for my California Garden Railway, the Mt. Greta Railway. I still have this loco in my collection and in fact several years ago, I started building another version of this same loco. The original loco built by Gordon is coal fired and the new version is gas fired with a larger boiler but otherwise very similar to the original. You can find a video of me operating the coal fired model at the National Summer Steam Up some years ago. The video is on my YouTube channel under twofootcal or Mt. Greta Railway.

Thanks Two Foot Cal, I love that loco a real narrow gauge gem. I would love to see a pic of the other one you are building and also the two together sometime when you finish the second one.
I'll check out that video

Russell, Here is a new picture of the 2-8-2 I have under construction. This unit is gas fired but uses a lot of the same parts as the original coal fired unit. The tender will be similar to the original loco but this one was borrowed from the 2-6-0 Mogul from the same railroad.
