I looked at the photos of two Union Pacific Challengers 3977 and 3980. Both Challengers have coal tenders. Were 3977 and 3980 burned coal in their entire careers.

Both 3977 and 3980 were converted to burn oil in 1952. No. 3977 is the only other Challenger besides 3985 that still exists. It is on display in Cody Park in North Platte Nebraska and sometimes supplies spare parts for 3985.
