A friend is contemplating buying an Aster B-1, which does run, but poorly. He was informed that Jeff Runge is the Great Guru when it comes to timing slip- eccentrics. Any help would be appreciated. Alex Azary

Hey Alex, I have one of those too. Kevin Conner started some B1 tune-up tips in Steam In The Garden magazine some years ago, but hasn't come up with Episode 2 yet - I live in hope.

Here's a friend's one that runs really well, gas fired and radio controlled.
He's fashioned it after a Hawaiian Baldwin with distinctive six-wheeled tender.

Thanks, everyone, for all your help. We haven't bought the loco yet, but it sure looks encouraging!
