I have never seen the building and I know little about it other than the news report of the catastrophic inferno.
It is indeed a very sad affair, more so for those who live there and those who cherished the building.
As an ex firefighter I am always amazed - even annoyed - at the many historic, beautiful and usually irreplaceable buildings that catch fire whilst undergoing restoration. Does no one ever learn from these mistakes?
