Tom,
You have a N&W Y3. If you want to see the real thing, drive over to the museum in Union, IL.
You can see in fig. 12 above that the eccentric crank is not in line with the axle, but is tilted about 30 deg. to the right.
That diagram would be of the loco's right side driving wheel. Be sure to remember that the crank should be tilted in the direction of the front of the loco.
