Hi all,
I have it in my mind to build a backwoods logging type loco and right now I am hung up on how to build a smoke box door. I would like to avoid building it out of plastic, would prefer brass or some other metal. Does anybody have any tips/examples of how to build one? Are there any companies that sell them? Are there any companies that sell most of the parts needed to build one? I would be lazy and just buy a ruby somebox door but couldn't find them listed on accucraft's website.
thanks,
Matt

I have got the one from the ruby as well as the 3 cylinder shay from Accucraft both are made of brass.
Just call them up and tell cliff what you want there is a good chance that they have them

The NE Models Class A Climax kit includes a soft metal smoke door casting - you could call them to check the source. I'm going to modify their kit for my own backwoods engine - right now I'm building an early T-style boiler from copper fittings I found at the hardware store.
