FYI, our local Botanic Garden RR recently sent in several engines for repairs. They sent them to LGBoA, Aristo-Craft, and USA Trains. The LGB Genesis (sent in for repair) was returned with the comment "no parts" and the box looked like it had not been opened by them. We selected the Genesis for repair as it is the latest production LGB engine. Aristo-Craft advised they have repaired our SD-45 for "free". USA Trains repaired our SD40-2 for $10. Guess what brands they will be running in the future.....

Ron,
LGBoA is in the position thas is damned if they do and damned if they don't. They can't get replacement parts from LGB/Marklin then they can't repair your engine. I would contact MArklin and see what if anything they will do for you.

Nick: I believe that they have stripped gears on one truck. We can't get parts locally and from what LGBoA told me at the Chandler Convention, "send them in and we'll see what we can do". Just thot it was worth a try as they were new production. Thanks for your Watts suggestion.

Regardless of what name they choose to go by, it's pretty obvious that LGB--particularly LGB as we knew it for so many years--is dead and gone. The recommendation to go to Watts or another large dealer that may have some decent stock of parts, is probably well worth following.

Too bad about LGB--long my favorite model trains--but I doubt we'll ever again see anything approaching the LGB we were accustomed to.

I am saddened to hear negative news about whatever LGB Train's future is. I made the staement in

another post about Marklin doing something one way or the other. I would really rather not rely

on Ebay for my LGB purchases.

There could be a bright side to all of this, though I hasten to add, I don't know how long we

will have to wait.

Lionel came back. At first with a meager offering. But once they realized that the buying public

was ready for more items, they did reissue alot if not all of the old favorit

Our Botanic is having the same problem with LGB. He's thinking of pulling out the cog railway 'cause both our cog engines are caput. I showed him that the Hartland Mac Switcher does a great job hauling a couple cars up and down the line.
