Hello all, Im new to G scale but not to the Model railroading hobby. I have a diverse collection of O scale and Ive always wondered what G scale has to offer as well. Im very well familiar with mth dcs command control at least for o and standard gauge (when they did the runs for lionel corp tinplate). Is the dcs system for the railking one gauge units mainly the same or is it different enough to invest in a different control scheme. Im mainly spit balling here to be fair. Thats mainly about it but I also had some questions regarding a now apparently defunct website called LSOL.com (now rebranded to Garden Trains on youtube.) Mainly the big one is what happened to the website and channel that caused the disbanding. I used to watch the reviews online as a kid mainly the usa trains hudson review and usa trains sd70mac review. They seemed very well written and extremely informative. If anyone has a reason or information on what happened to them that would be great to hear.
Another thing I do have some questions on is the closure of phoenix sound systems. Were they just put down by competitions or were there other issues that were underlying. Watching the USA hudson review it seemed like they had some killer sound packages and now that they are defunct no one has those sound files and those boards cant be found basically anywhere. Any insight to this too would be cool to know.
Thanks
Ps it does seem that some one has archived the entirety of the LSOL website for the most part at least but I cant find any news articles regarding its closure or the reasons for said closure as stated previously.

Yes, the DCS used in MTH 1 gauge is exactly the same control system (as usual the decoders vary in size).

LSOL basically ran out of money, and also lost people due to crazy practices, for example offering free photo storage, but then took all of your pictures and watermarked them (non removable).

More on LSOL: (read the section on defunct forums):

Phoenix went out of business due to shrinking market and high cost. They did not keep up with technology. The recordings were great, but there were no additional features. They finally made an all in one decoder (motor, lights, sound) but it was not great.

I have all the Phoenix sound files, you can contact me if you need any.

And check reports. MTH LS stuff had issues. Now it's parts. In Wide Gauge, Brass Piper AF copy, center gear on the outside.....we found the last one after two years.
Trust me, there are zero MTH engines or cars on my 1 gauge or the three rail in the basement.

Pete- they are still issuing G scale locos:

February 25, 2025 - M.T.H. Electric Trains will be releasing three additional ALL-NEW 2025 G Scale RailKing One Gauge ES44 Diesel Locomotives in unique specialty liveries next Summer to complement the first of eight schemes announced earlier this February. Each locomotive will be limited in production and expected to begin shipping to M.T.H. Authorized Retailers in September 2025.

So, not a lot of new development, but you can still buy... also rolling stock...
