Running my steam engine for the first time

So I will be running a Spectrum Consolidation & Side Tank Porter for thefirst time. Can I run the engines straight from the box or do I have to lube them before hand?
What is the usual maintance schedule for lubing an engine? The Consolidation did have a manual with the lubing points. The porter did not come with instructions.

I've found "new" Bachmann locomotives to be well lubed. If I recall, Bachmann suggests oiling after every 10 hours.

While I didn't find the operator's manual on the Bachmann site, I did find a parts listing for your Porter:
