I remember riding behind the real 4501 when I was a young boy on one of the special excursions where Johnny Cash was in the cab. I was quite young, but I have some memory of the ride.

question. How long do your wicks last? I keep having an issue where after about 2 hours the wicks stop taking in the alcohol.

I have never had that problem.
What wick material are you using.
Have you checked that the sump is still full when your wicks go out?

The fiberglass wicks that they come with. Happened today after refilling was unable to get them to relight until I remove them and put them back in Really strange. Also that is one smooth running engine you got there!

Sorry, have no idea as mine is the Aster version and still has the original asbestos wicks in it.
I understand that the ends of the fibreglass wicks can melt and fuse together which wouldn't help.
I would suggest trying to get some different wick material.
