How do you remove the coal load on a Bachmann 4-6-0?  I want to remove the coal load on my BBT "Annie" and build an oil bunker to fit in its place. But I can't figure out how to get the coal off, and the exploded view diagram doesn't provide any clues that I can see. I'm hoping it won't require disassembling the whole thing.

Turn the tender over and fine 4 screws in holes. They hide under the trucks and you can get to them by turning the truck. Take out these 4 screws and the bottom comes off the tender. Watch the wire to the rear light.

You can now see the screw that holds the coal load in place.

I haven't replaced mine, but I took the screw out so I can reach my batteries.

Hi Ray,

Here is an Annie tender that has a oil tank conversion, it holds the batteries, speaker, AirWire receiver and Phoenix card.

When I change the whole look of something, it's usually not an improvement, or intentional ;)
