re: riding cars in 3 1/2" gauge

Had a question regarding a thread from a week ago (or thereabouts). What measurements (length and width) are you using for 3/4" scale riding cars?/DesktopModules/NTForums/themes/mls/emoticons/w00t.gif

Hi Ray,

If you are modeling 3/4" scale on 3.5" track then that would be standard gauge, right?  My 1" scale, standard gauge cars are about 10" wide.  If you scale that to 3/4" scale it measures out to 7.5" in actual size.  So that might make an acceptable width for you.  Length of my cars is pretty short because I am building industrial, logging type of stuff.   I think my riding car is like 30" long which would be only 22.5" for you.  It may be hard for you to squeeze yourself on a car that is only 7.5" wide x 22.5" long though.  At GGLS everybody uses 4.75" gauge riding cars behind their 3.5" gauge locomotives.  It's a club rule.

Eric
Hi Eric,

Sorry I didn't respond sooner, I seem to be unable to post from my home computer. Thanks for the info; your specs sound about right. I'm still up in the air as far as ga/scale, although it will be narrow gauge. Whether 3.5" or 4.75" still depends one what engine is available. I'm still looking at the O.S. Krauss, which I believe you own. I think I spoke to you backchannel some time ago about this engine, but am wondering if you can give me your opinion? Backchannel me if you wish. Thanks!/DesktopModules/NTForums/themes/mls/emoticons/laugh.gif
