QSI Titan Decoder repair.

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get a couple of QSI Aristo Titan DCC decoders repaired. I have one Plug and play version and one regular version.

I am unable to address the cards either in the engine, or using the new bench tester. I know how to do both just no response from either card.

I have tried to call and email both QSI (not josh guy) and Tony's with no response from either.

Any ideas would be much appreciated, thanks, Ron

So, Kelly at QS Industries might help.... see the QSI forum on groups.io.

Tony's has changed hands, they never could repair the decoders.

Can you download new firmware? If not, then the CPU/ASIC is shot, no way to repair.

No idea, how do I check that? When I try to read any cv or run the confidence test it says unable to communicate with decoder.
So you cannot download firmware I guess, if you cannot run the confidence test that it is cooked.

You are doing this with the decoder disconnected from everything but a motor?

Greg
Yes just motor and track hook ups connected.
It's crazy that just an interruption during programming bricks the decoder and it cannot be repaired, makes no sense.
Uhh... to be fair, you have a Windows computer right? It says "do not turn off your computer" when updating.

MANY products will brick if you interrupt a firmware download.... My car will! My phone can!

I feel your pain, but this is not unusual at all. So, I believe you also said you did the force bootloader option too... I think it is a goner.

Yeah that's true but you can just reformat the hard drive and reinstall you don't have to throw away the computer 🤣, is just crazy that they can't replace the chip that gets messed up and be on your way.
If you trash the bios on your computer (one of the few bits of upgradable firmware) you would be in the same boat.

Sure they can, do you realize what it takes to rework an asic? depending on the type, 50 to 100 bucks, I know they do NOT have the rework equipment, I deal with this stuff, my company has a 27 mm bga, it's a nightmare to rework, and I have about 1,500 spares.... I'm not sure they have any spares.

Well unfortunately Kelly at QSI main was unable to repair the QSI Aristo Titan boards. He told me because of the way the 2 boards are soldered together he couldn't get to half of the circuits and that they don't have any parts for those boards and that only QSI solutions would have them. But as we all know that's dead. Hopefully somebody will bring these back and be able to repair the older boards.

I do appreciate him trying though and he shipped them back free of charge, very nice of him.
