Well on July 12th 2008, Pat Mccarty had his annual open house and invited me to come down and check it out. this is my 1st open house and i was thrilled to and when i got there i was totally inpressed with what i saw and the people that were their were all a class act.
i was so impressed with how much everybody knew and how well Pats layout ran. Pat had his f-3 and aristo heavyweights runnimg along with his pa's and 7 usa smooth sides. BobVanDeusen was there with his custom high hooded GP-40 plus other battery powered engines . i brought my GG-1 and my AML K-4s.fun was had by all that were there plus lots of people stop by from his neigborhood with their kids to check out all the trains running as Pats layout is on his frt lawn. i would just like to say so far, this is the best time ive had in this hobby so far, its so great to meat and talk trains with other train nuts like myself... so Pat thanks for the invite i had a great time:D" border=0>

Great videos Nick! :) Nice to see the USAT GG1 out there running. What exactly does a GG1 sound file sound like anyway??? Electric humming noise? /DesktopModules/NTForums/themes/mls/emoticons/tongue.gif

I heard that K4 slowing down when it got out of camera range...

And don't you just love sticky tripods? I oiled mine up to work more smoothly but think I'm going to just get a nice one that's nice and smooth eventually.

I just bought one of these tripod for my ground level stuff. http://www.ephotocraft.com/itemdesc.asp?ic=854630001001 Really slick!

That Gorillapod works great, can't say enough good things about it. Having it so adjustable makes it very easy to use. You could hear the plastic creaking a little bit but I figure I'll either lube it or it will work itself out in time.

Figures you wouldn't find out till too late! /DesktopModules/NTForums/themes/mls/emoticons/tongue.gif

hehe Those pans sound like my neck before the physical therapist guy got ahold of me. Works much better now--my neck, that is.

Ray,
The GG-1 has all sorts of sounds from compressors to the electic motor whine , but there not very loud.. the k-4 slowed down because it was going up a grade on the corner plus it was only running on a ultima power pack whitch at max is about 16 to 17 volts, this loco really needs 24 volts to pull alot...
