so as i have stated many times i want to convert all my locomotive to battery power over the next year probably using 5400mah 9 volt lithium ion batteries but wiring the new circutry in is proving to be... complicated and i need some guides on the existing electronics of locomotives for anybody who doesn't remember which locos i have here is a list
a USA trains 44 tonner
an Aristocraft rogers 2-4-2
a Piko Saddle Tank
an LGB stainz
other locomotives i am trying to aquire or plan on aquiring when they become availible include
Bachmann Big hauler (specifically the one in the red comet set but i don't which generation it is)
Aristocraft FA-1
USA trains S4 or NW-2
Bachmann GP40

Who makes the battery pack that you plan on using?

Right off the bat, you need to describe what the heck you are doing, no offense.

1. lithium batteries cannot be combined in any way that the nominal voltage is 9 volts, they are 3.6 volts to 3.7 volts per cell.
2. unless you are trying to run without a motor controller, why are you picking 9 volts
3. assuming you want a control system, what system are you choosing.

The conversion is very simple, but more details are needed. Basically you ignore the wiring from the track pickups and connect to the motor. Lights are another story, again need your controller.

Forget smoke, uses as much power as the motor.

Arduino control system I heard a 9 volt system is fine and battery pack is made by EBL I've seen people use 9 volts in locomotives before

Measure it, it is NOT 9 volts and it is NOT 5.4 amp hours. it is 5.4 watt hours, big difference.

That is NOT a good battery to run the locomotives you have listed. Perhaps something like a Little Big Hauler, or a Piko 25 tonner.

sigh now i have to begin the search for batteries all over again but at least i know i can fit 10 AA batteries in the tender for my rogers 2-4-2 (its a 3d printible kit of thingiverse that i rescaled)

ok plans have been reworked a bit we are probably going to use 18650 li-ion 3S2P 11.1V battery packs
