Just before Christmas I went into OSH to check out this years offering.  Every year OSH get a shipment of specially decorated Big Hauler Christmas sets.  The current versions are not Spectrum, but do use the improved drive mechanism.  The sets include two passenger coaches, track, and a power pack.

OSH was selling them at $230/set before Christmas.  I went in afterwards and they had six sets left marked down 50% ($115/set).  I went in the following week and they were still 50% off.  Typically, the week after New Years week, the Christmas stuff gets marked down 75%. 

I went in yesterday and sure enough 75% all Christmas items..., but no Bachmann sets to be seen.  I inquired and the stock clerk noted that there were still five sets in the back and he would check on them.  I told him, if they were 75% off, I'd take all they had. /DesktopModules/NTForums/themes/mls/emoticons/wow.gif

He came back and told me they had been moved to the back for storage and the price, if I wanted them, was back up to $230/each.  I asked at the Service Desk about it and they said that yes, these again $230/set or would be held until next Christmas and sold then.  /DesktopModules/NTForums/themes/mls/emoticons/doze.gif

Sounds to me that they had around $125 or so cost in each set...
(or at least more than $50...)
Of course, after you factor in inventory holding costs for a period of time, they'll be best off selling them at retail this coming November-January.

Hahhaaaha! Todd was that the OSH in La Cresenta? I went in there and was told the same thing, wow it hurts when yer jaw hits that floor.

Funny thing, the OSH in South Pasadena and East Pasadena had all their remaining Bmann sets very promenently in the 50% off pile right after Xmas. Only La Cresenta had them at full price. BTW all gone at the other stores.  Gee, I wonder why?

They were a $100 in Goleta. I was good and didn't buy any. Still have too many from previous bargains!
