Having one heck of a time putting an Accucraft refrigerator car back together. There are 8 LONG screws holding the base and the top together and I can't get the screw lined up with the hole. Any suggestions?? Thanks!
Ah, the fun of taking something apart and then having to put it back together. Sounds like the coaches which had a screw in the inside of the vestibule that you had to reach through the doors.
Try taping the screw to the screwdriver with painters tape or similar. That will keep it rigid with the driver so you can put it in the hole and feel around for the socket that it fits. Once it is started you will be able to pull the screwdriver off.
Greg, No the doors do not open.
Tehachap, I found it was rather 'hit and miss' and used a magnet to pull up the screw if it missed to hole.
Using a pair of tweezers, I held the screw so that the head was above the frame and was vertical, and would then just let it drop and gravity seemed to get it to line up most of the time!
Who knows how they would do it at the factory.
Good luck, and perseverance.
