Hi guys, I'm in London - any good railroad sites/hobby shops/garden railroads to see? I'm staying in Mayfair.
thanks!
Your nearest museum is at Covent Garden (which is a pleasant place to visit anyway.) The London Transport Museum is tucked away in a corner and has a few railway exhibits, plus buses, trams, etc.

A fun trip is the train to Princes Risborough (Marylebone Station, Chiltern Line, about 1 hour,) where you will find Garden Railway Specialists at the bottom of the station access road.

You are surrounded by restored railways about 1-2 hours away. The Bluebell line is in Sussex

The Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch is a unique 'miniature railway'

And the NRM is in York, a mere 2 hours up the ECML at 125mph. Pick up a copy of 'Steam Railways" magazine for details of the full-size steam action.
