I have a picture of engine #88 and the road markings are D.M. & N.R. Can someone tell what the letters mean? Ron

Thanks I could find the first part but nothing popped up for the N.R.
Duluth, Missabe & Northern Railway was a predecessor of the Duluth, Missabe & Iron Range..

The United State Steel Corporation bought the Duluth, Missabe & Northern Railway and the Duluth & Iron Range Railroad in 1901 and operated them as two separate entities with both railroads carrying iron ore from the mines in Minnesota to Lake Superior.

The two railroads were operated independently, but in 1930 they combined the rosters of the motive power.

(to form the DM&IR)
