This past weekend I wore a different hat for one day during the weekend at the Galveston Railroad Museum.
Got up at 5:00 A.M. to go to Mall to pick up track and setup stuff for run down to Galveston. At 6:00 A.M. I believe it must have been 80 degrees already.
By the time we got completely set up I was soaking wet and had not run a train. The crowd was pretty good and I came back early on Sat and most of the rest of the crew stayed overnite and ran on Sunday.
I am ask to come primarily because I have a pickup truck and they need it to haul stuff around. If I was unable to come, no big deal, just turn your truck over to them.
Next day on Sunday the true Texas Fall weather came in, and has been great eversince.
Next Saturday the HALS group will be running trains at Zube Park.
What is amazing is that the Museum was virtually destroyed when Hurricane Ike came thru. The people in Galveston are a resilient bunch.

That is south Texas, summer weather well into October is typical.

For anyone travelling to SE Texas in November the San Jacinto Model RR Club is once again holding their weekend layout open houses. Unlike in years past all of the open houses will be in November to December 1st, none in October.

Here is the link to the schedule.
