I used to know some people in the GM EV-1 Owners Club, and some of them spent their time drag racing Corvettes and BMWs at traffic lights. EV-1s were limited to 80 mph tops, so eventually the other cars would catch them, but in the initial acceleration, the EV-1 always won handily.

Electric drag racing is one thing, but electric powered cars will never be practical until they can do something like the Indy 500.

Wait a minute? What? The Indy 500 is practical? For what? Don;t get me wrong I enjoy watching racing of most kinds but is it practical?
