Is the boiler made of brass and not copper?
according to the included text its brass, stressed out through the heating/cooling cycles

The model is the old and very rare Regner Hartzquerbahn/Wernigerode 2-10-2 VIIk. I have only seen one, and its running was said to be problematic to say the least.

I am nevertheless surprised that it 'let go'...this is what the poster has to say...

'...this is a view of an irrepairably damaged boiler taken just now. The gas burner from a brass boiler [not mine] has split behind the seam. The test, carried out with a pressure test bottle applied via an extension, is unambiguous. At 0,5 bar the boiler, the water spurts from the location of the defect.'
