Picked up this old Chedder Reisa locomotive today. Sans its original boiler, which was gone when the seller bought the model many years ago. I am going to fit a Roundhouse Billy boiler from their range of kits to the Chedder body and chassis as Chedder is long gone as a company. The chassis cleaned up nice and runs great on air. The body and cap roof need to be sanded and resprayed to deal with rust and flaking paint. I plan on a lighter shade of green on the body at this point. Should look great pulling my LGB Euro rolling stock and better to me than the RH Billy with its outside frames. I like to see the nice spoked wheels.

Thanks Russell. I have the body all taken apart and cleaned up. Need to do some more sanding with my sanding block on the roof and scuff the body. Then I can get the new lighter shade(think LGB Stainz) green put on it and baked. Chassis runs great on air and cleaned up really nice. Have to get the boiler kit ordered from Roundhouse and then the fun of adapting it will begin. One does not see many Chedder locos on this side of the pond. Wish I knew what happened to the original boiler.

Here is some progress on the Riesa. All body work sanded and repainted, LGB loop coupler fitted to the rear buffer beam. Chassis trued it as it had a bit of a rock from front to rear(frame had a bit of a twist in it). Runs smooth on air. All the original etched brass plates are polished awaiting the paint to fully cure before being put back in place. Thanks for the offer of that boiler, but I think a RH boiler with their near silent burner is more in line with the higher quality of the Cheddar loco. The RH boiler is also the correct diameter to fit into the smoke box and is only a tad longer than the original one. That kit also gives me a new gas tank and unpainted boiler jacket with bands. All things I need. Should look splended pulling my LGB Euro passenger and freight wagons.
