Rather than buying the 1:20.3 side tank Porter,
I came up with the idea of replacing the cab on my Big Haulers
Porter. I'm guessing the Big Hauler is closer to 1:22.5.
So putting a 1:20.3 cab on it may have an interesting visual
effect. Any comments?

I say go for it! Build a cab out of styrene, and see how it looks.

Be careful, though. Once you start bashing it, you may not want to stop. It's a dangerous undertaking. ;)

Big haulers and annies are commonly used for bashing. They are a great foundation to start with. I made a cab for mine from bass wood and it turned out well. Good luck with your project and be sure to post pics!
Just FYI though, I just bought a 1:20 porter from ridge road station for under $100 w/ shipping included. I believe St Aubin has them on sale too.
