Hi All,

This is not a list of them - that would be too too long, BUT David Fletcher has written an article for the Australian Magazine 'Narrow Gauge Downunder' (weblink www.narrowgaugedownunder.com) on the Baldwin Loco Works system of painting and explains the way it worked and was run.

It does not show any American Loco's as such but does include some of David's superb color drawings of Australian and English locomotives.

The first part is in the April issue which is issue 29, this part is 10 pages long, of which 4 are the color drawings. There is a part 2, and may be a part 3. Part 2 will have an American styled and painted Australasian locomotive as a color view included.

It is not a cheap magazine being S10 per issue, including airmail post, and very like the magazine genrally known as 'Short Line Gazette'.

This article is very interesting, as would be expected from David.

Here is a link to an 1885 book published by the Baldwin Locomotive Works:
Illustrated Catalog of Narrow Gauge Locomotives
If that doesn't work try this: http://www.archive.org/details/illustratednarro00baldrich
or cut and paste: http://www.archive.org/details/illustratednarro00baldrich
Been awhile since I tried to post a link.....

Hi Russ,

Thank you for the link - it works!

For members who want to look at the book, can I suggest that if you take the .PDF option, download the book to your computer before opening it; that way is much faster.
