$1,500.00

Check price

Fort Worth, Texas

I’ve been wanting a k-27 for a few years now. I always get out-bid on eBay last second and trainz.com sells them fast. Saw this community and figured asking if anyone has one they’d be willing to part with might be my only ticket. Willing to pay for shipping. Would absolutely love one with a plow, or a green boiler jacket, but I’m not too picky.

out of curiosity, what do they go for on ebay, and trainz?

(I.e. how much cheaper than the going rate is $1,500 ?)
Last time I saw one (about a week ago) it went for about $1,680. On eBay just a few days ago, I lost out on one that went for $2,200. I’m flexible with what I’m willing to pay but 2k seemed like a little too much to me.

The 2.200 one had a remote and sound if I remember... of course it was more..
I install all of my own electronics, so at that point it wasn’t worth it for me. Now, that being said, I might just have to suck it up and be willing to shell that out anyway. I want one pretty bad so it wouldn’t be hard to convince me… I was the one who got the price that high on that bid anyway. Maybe it was someone on here who got it, but it was one heck of a bid war.

Yeah, they are hard to find. You just have to watch the typical places, but only if an estate goes on sale locally will you get one... also read up on the versions (you can use my site) to understand what questions to ask, or you may get an early one and have to repair it before running

Don't shoot me, but I was the winner of that K-27 from eBay. I was in the same boat in that I had been looking for one for a long time and didn't want to let this one pass if it was within my price range. Been modeling in On30 for some time with a Mountain Model Imports K-27 on that layout, and wanted to scale up.

Now that I am the owner, started searching for additional details and options to build out my layout and came across this site/forum. I don't have much of a yard, so for the time being it will sit as a display in the Livingroom until I can figure out what I am going to do.

Well congratulations on the win! I hope she’s as beautiful as she looked in the pictures! I really thought I had it there for a minute. Good luck on starting out in large scale. I did On30 myself for quite a few years after moving up from HO. The big stuff is definitely a lot of fun, and these guys who’ve been doing it forever know all the tips and tricks. Also, if you ever decide you don’t want it, you’ve got a buyer right here! 😁 👍🏼

I was reading a little about that and saw a couple websites explaining what some of the headaches and fixes for them were. I’m pretty crafty so I don’t doubt I could do it, but here’s to hoping I can land a newer model/ already repaired earlier model. I appreciate the heads up sir! If you know anyone who might be willing to let go of one, please feel free to contact me. I’ll be hastily scrolling the internet for my next opportunity.
