I had come across a Philly for sale and jumped on it. The previous owner had painted over the orignal with a spraybomb of grey. While in the photos it looked good, in person everything was grey even the valve gear. So after running it 3 times at ECLSTS I decided to strip it and repaint. I didnt think of taking any photos of the process and I lost the photo I took while running so if anyone had shot one from the show Id like to have it for comparison.. Anyway here she is, I stil have some striping to so along with the number decal on the dome.

The repaint looks great, you should post a before shot. I can't wait to see the B1 run around the track. It generated plenty of steam on rollers...

Jason - I'm not having any problems with the "img" tags, which are translated by some nefarious scheme that Shad put in place. Just use "img" instead of "url".

Now I know where to send my Philly for a repaint. Did you have much trouble stripping off the gray?

Rick - I bought a paint stripper from Lowes....It was by Jasco and in a tin container. sort of a jelly like consistincy. Brush it on and in a few mins it just wipes off. Some areas took a few cleanings but it also cleans up with water. I also stripped the jacked and just blackened it. Made a huge difference over the painted one. I think the 4-4-0 can benifit from the same jacket. You will have to attend one of our local steamups to check it out or PLS. Does this make you want to take yours out?
