Forgot to mention that Accucraft used the same stacks for live steam and electric locomotives. So that will widen your search a little.

Have you tried calling or emailing Accucraft out in Cali? Many times they have stuff on the shelf but not on the E store. Worth a try. Otherwise you just have to camp out on ebay for parts. That black part at the top of the stack is the fake spark arrestor and its part of the stack itself. So to get that, you have to buy the whole stack, not just the black part of it.

 

Yes I did call Accucraft and talked to Cliff to inquire if they might have that smoke stack in their warehouse and he stated no. I just might make one myself if it come to that,but Thanks anyway.

 

I don't know of anyone off hand but I have seen them show up on ebay from time to time. You can also make a listing in the "Wanted" section of the MLS forum. Include a picture so people know which one you need. It may take some time but, one will show up eventually.

 

Does the top of your stack have threads? After I read Mike's post, I thought that the arrestor on mine screwed on so I checked and it does. So some may be as Mike said, 1 piece while others 2 pieces.

 

Yes it does screw onto the top of the base smoke stack.

 

My friends on his Mich Cal deuce does not thread, it was a soldered flange and broke when we tried to remove it so the engine would fit thru my covered bridge.

 

Those damn covered bridges!!! The stack on one of my caboose fell victim to one of those on a friends layout.

 

I found a spark arrestor for your Shay (and a few other parts). This electric version is on ebay, it's worth pursuing because it can be a source of parts as most interchange between LS & electric.
