I'm wondering if this is posible?
I found some web cam software. It allows several people, in different locations to produce a live web camera show. Each hosting railroad would need a laptop or PC, probably set up near their layout. Everyone here on MLS could attend the tour.

Jim, there are several pre-recorded shows between live segments. ONE of those was a two hour recording of how I set up the moving camera shots in another show. It was sped up to play in a minute. That may have been what you saw.

What I was thinking, is...
If we get several MLSers using a compatible system, one that can be imbedded in a post like the one above, we could host a garden tour.
We would set a date and time, plan out the order of the layouts. Field live questions from the viewers. Run trains requested by the viewers. ETC. In effect, do all the stuff that is usually done on a tour. Except spend gas money.

It looks like we can set up a channel like "Our Transcontental Garden Railroad Tour". I can assign multiple Production Team Managers. They can each have several pre recorded clips. They can each have several cameras. They can each contribute as little or as much of the production work as they desire, that is to say, they might only turn on the camera, get in front of it, and let somone else handle all the production work, or they might put together a complete production with splash screens, over the shoulder graphics, and pre recorded clips, etc.

For those of you that have uploaded videos to Utube, that is about all you absolutely have to do...
... aside from joining in on the chat.

Yea, well I tried that with uStream. The latency was so bad, your train would be 20 feet ahead of where you see it.

Mogulus seems much better in the latency department. I have all the hardware and software to allow remote operation, but, it is a little short of prime time.
I think most people would just be happy with chat. they could ask a question, then an "interviewer". in my case, Ally, could pose the question on video as soon as it shows up in chat. They could even tell us in chat what trains they would like to see.

By the way. I think I can run trains by assigning loco numbers to chat names. Then [> < + - 1 2 3] would mean [Forward, reverse, Faster, Slower, Bell, Whistle, Uncouple] just by typing them right into the chat window. Until I get enough cameras to cover the whole layout, I think it would be a disaster.

Bob has done a lot of work on the site. There are videos available from several contributors. The "On Demand" feature allows a viewer to choose what video they want to watch.
