Wow - it was blowing a bit in Boston when I left for work this morning, but it was clearly much worse in Pitt. Here's hoping that your family didn't suffer any additional full-scale damage. Jon

OH MY Rick , that looks really bad for your beautiful overhead wire and post .Here it was up to as high as 70mph , for 3 0r 4 hours , not normal for Indiana , lots of leaves and twigs covered the layout .
Picking up sticks , and raking leaves today ............a shingle , hmmmm , wonder whos it is , oh no its mine , two small patches of shingles missing . /DesktopModules/NTForums/themes/mls/emoticons/crying.gif" border=0>

Glad to here that it was only the railway that suffered and not you or your family. So now that you are getting a second chance to do your overhead, anything you are going to do differently?

I don't think it's going to take too much to get the overhead back in shape. Need a couple of new line poles. A few others need to be tamped back in place. In most cases, the span wires came off of the poles under the weight of the limbs. Neither the trolley wire nor the feeder cables were broken. Looks mostly like some major re-profiling to get us up and running again.

Despite what the "experts" claim, there's a lot to be said for keeping the wire a little loose. If it's banjo-string tight you get a lot more damage than if the wire has some "give" to it.

Other than the railroad, no damage here. There were more than 100,000 homes without electricity Monday, and still quite a few today. Quite a number of schools closed as well due to no power. Mother Nature at her best!!
