The Elm Creek RR hosted an Open House on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. It was one of the better ones in terms of attendance and train performance. Sure there were the obligatory derailments, but nothing majorly spectacular. My neighbor Tim just around the corner was also supposed to have open house, but canceled to tend to an ailing MIL. I borrowed some of Tim's B&O hoppers so I could run a 30 car hopper train. I had to bad order a couple cars however.
Most of the guys were HO or non modelers. The 30 car impressed them. I would uncouple the engine and battery car and let them pull the train up the grade. They were impressed it only took 2 engines and 2 little old RC batteries.
Here is a short Youtube video of the coal train and Santa train. Santa train made a photo runby at Lumbrook and then backed up and stopped at the station.
I used some battery LED lights from Michaels. S hort blurb about them in buildings forum. Santa Train at Lumbrook and again Maplewood.
