Many of us started with, or still run the LGB/Aster Frank S, a class HF110c Heeresfeldbahn (field railway) 0-6-0. The model depicts her as she was many years ago after being purchased by Mr. Seidensticker(the S in Frank S). He also purchased a second HF110C and named it Nicki S. At some point the Frank S needed heavy repairs and was set aside, with some major parts being used to rebuilt the Nicki S, which became Nicki+Frank S in the blue scheme that LGB did as an electrically driven model. Mr Seidensticker donated the Frank S after it sat for many years on display and the group on Rugen Island have restored it back to operation in its black/red scheme with road number 99 4652. The Nicki S is at another railway, still pvtly owned and is awaiting repairs to return it back to service. These engines, much like many G scale live steamers were designed as gauge adjustable, from 750mm to 600mm(the common meter gauge lines at the time they were built). Here is a pic of "Frank S" as he looks today in service once again.

I have noticed most museum groups in the UK and Europe have much higher volunteer rates and equipment condition shows this by being clean and presentable at all times. Maybe its because trains are a much more regular part of everyday life over there, where most in this country see them as an annoyance when they get stopped by one at a crossing or the noise they make.

Same here, I actually have locomotive horns on our two Jeeps, a Leslie RS3LR under the rear of my Liberty and a Nathan K3LA squeezed in next to the drive shaft on my wife's Wrangler. I dont mind the horns either, or whistles for that matter. I just wear my ear muff hearing protection if I am going to blow them a lot or if I attend an organized horn honk.

We mostly use them on Jeep rides and if someone really pulls a bone head driving mistake. I dont use them just to scare people or draw the wrong attention.

They make a nice compact air horn for motorcycles and motor scooters. I plan to get one for my 300cc Vespa GTS touring edition. To many distracted drivers these days. Traveling to Germany and riding behind Frank S is on my bucket list. One day maybe. Mike
