Hello All! Well yet another project on the old workbench. I recall seeing where someone had taken an Aristo Center cab switcher, taken off the 2 short hood RS3's, and modified 2 slope back tender bodies to create a steeple cab electric. This I want to create for my road. I have the 2 tender bodies, and the center cab I just won on Ebay for a song. So now to I want trolley poles (2) or a pantagraph (1)? And where does one come across either of these? Are there parts dealers? Any suggestions? Thanks, Mike.

Trolley poles can be ordered from Bachmann, Hartland, or from light rail products. The LRP poles require assembly but are very nice.

Beckits makes a pantograph as does LGB. St. Aubins has LGB pantographs in stock as I am sure others do as well.
Post some pics of the project. I built one with the tender bodies and used a USA chassis and aristo bricks but the all aristo critter is the better way to go I am sure. I just used what I had.

.....outdoors the problem is maintainig the overhead....indoors, no problem.
I would like to model electric traction, but am limited to outdoors, and without the overhead it looks ridiculous.....
The B'man and Hartland trolley poles do not conduct electricity, but making poles is a relativly easy chore. The LHG pans do work, so they can be used "Out of the box".
That mod of the centre cab should look neat....have fun.

Last time I checked the bachmann poles were metal and did conduct electricity. Ridiculous perhaps...but a few line poles and soem dummy overhead and perhaps not so bad. I'vve never been afraid to appear ridiculous

I am building a model of an electric loco which had a pantagraph and a trolley pole. I bought both the pantagraph and the pole from Hartland. The pantagraph appears to be a tad on the small side for my purposes but the pole is o.k.The Hartland prices are reasonable and the service is prompt and pleasant. Even if the pantagraph proves too small it can be saved for another project.

Um ..... any chance of some pictures? I love trolley pole electrics and I'd be really interested to see what this conversion looks like.
