Saturday afternoon, 2 PM started the first steam up at the new PCSRR (Dewey Branch.) Terry Liesegang prepares his live steam C-16.

A whole gaggle of folks showed from many different groups from all over Arizona. We had folks from Gilbert, Mesa, Glendale, Prescott, Prescott Valley, Chino Valley, New River and Phoneix. We even took time to take an image.

Front row seated, L-R Pat Liesegang, Anita Hatch, Roberta Frank, Ruby Tifft, Anthony Piscitelli, Hostess, Kay Cedarleaf.
Standing L-R Terry Liesegang, Larry Hatch, Gene Frank, Paul Gieske, JJ, (John Jablonsky), New MLS member, Bob Tifft, Larry Appel, Gerry Schnaible, Bob Whittman, Stan Cedarleaf.
In the back row... Ralph Giese, Lorne Noyes, Mike Nelson and Duncan Thomson.
Lorne Noyes, Secretary/Treasurer of the Prescott Club, enjoying the view from the swing.

Overall of the running. Ralph Giese, Terry Liesegang, JJ and Paul Gieske. Anthony Piscitelli brought his newly battery converted 2-6-0 Indy for it's initial run. It worked great.

The rain held off for the entire run time until everyone had packed up their trains and started home.
A lot of kinks were worked out of the new track and Ralph even used a trundle wheel to measure the 2 main loops. Outer loop, 355 feet. Inner loop, 324 feet. Not including the sidings or track in the shed.
It was a great day of running. |

Nice railroad Stan,
Looks like everybody's enjoying themselves. With the speed at which you got the line up and running if you'd been born in ancient Egypt there's no doubt there'd be twice as many pyramids! |

With the pay scale I receive for working on the railroad, there's no wonder it's been done so quickly.
We had a great time today. Still needs track work but that's always the case.
All visiting locomotives ran wonderfully.
Oh yeah, my reputation is still intact.. |

Funny thing is I think it was two of his own trains involved in the misshap.
The kewl thing is his neighors up hill from him wacked down the bushes between the two properties so they could sit on the back porch and watch Stan's trains.
They were out there for a while today as the trains ran. |

Stan, Great work and looks like a wonderful turnout. Glad to here that you are holding your own in the reputation department. Looks like Duncan was really styling, glad to see that he does take time off for enjoyment. I recognized the shirt right away. |

First a great big THANK YOU to Stan and Kay for hosting such a diverse bunch at their home!!! It was a wonderful time!!!
Ralph and I decided that it was time for a road trip, since the ground was too wet to do anything on the SDRR, and the spectre of watching trains actually run on track loomed so large, we just had to go!!
Actually, we'd decided the other week that we'd make the jaunt, just because. Plus we knew we'd have some fun up there...
No disappointment!! (I'll get to the "proof" later"...)
Here's some shots I took.
Stan fixin' stuff, Ralph supervising...

Stan readying his F-7 as it exits the shed, and Terry driving his C-16 live steamer. A really nice piece of equipment, and a really smooth runner. Terry did some "tweaking" of the werx to get it so smooooth...

Stan's Unitah along side Terry's C-16

Here's the F-7 snaking out onto the track from the ready rail...

Here's some shots of Paul's Shay pulling wood.

The steam bay bench is getting sort of crowded...

Where's the 'boose????

Hmmm... Wrong end of the train for a caboose...

There wasn't as much hollering going on during this little operating infraction as was voiced during the occasion where Stan drilled the a$$ end of Paul's logging consist. The brakeman on the log train caboose took a nasty hit, and was laid out on the rear platform for the remainder of the trip...
As it was all of Stan's equipment that make contact with each other, I don't know if the Industrial Board of Inquiry will convene.
However, this intrepid reporter will absolve him of the majority of the blame in these instances, primarily becuase he and his lovely wife were trying their best to keep the rowdy and restless crowd contained. With all the comings and goings of the throng, I can fully appreciate his distraction...
Stan fixin' stuff again....

All in all, we had a good time, and I'm glad you recognized the shirt, Ric!! I do get out on occasion, but the SDRR HAS consumed most of my "free" time...
Ralph and I stopped at the Hungry Bear Diner and Harley Davidson Dealership Extension to grab a bite to eat before heading down the hill, and then stopped by the go-kart track to allow Duncan a little reminiscing... The racing was as fast and furious as I remembered it from my days, and was a nice "dessert" to a good day!!

Thanks again, Stan, and please be sure that you also pass that appreciation on to Kay!! |

Duncan and Ralph, thanks for the images. They're great. We did have wonderful time.
When you have a reputation that has been voiced worldwide via MLS, you have all kinds of legal eagles poised with camera and contracts in their hands.
Yes, that's what happened at the run yesterday. Duncan mentioned a rear ender!!!!!! Sure enough, legal photographers jumped right on it.
The approach

The contact

The casualty

Just can't win. Just like Charley Brown, his football kicking and kite flying. Once you gain a reputation, the expected happens... Sigh... |
