I forgot to provide the direct link. You can find it by going to my homepage, garden rr 2004 and look under the roster pictures. Click on the Gs-4 engine and that will take you to the page. Or just click:

Enjoy! I will post new pics as I get them.

Yes, it has traction tires on the front & rear.
When is the freedom train coming out?
Thank you for posting my pictures RAY.
Has anyone else received their Daylight YET?
What do you like/dislike about the engine so far?
I have about 7 hours run time on mine, and I see NOTHING I dislike.
This engine puts out the MOST smoke of any trains I own.
I wish LGB had the Puff & Chuff smoke system.
The smoke puffs with the wheel revolution.

Anytime Dave. :) And thanks for the info.
According to the MTH website the Freedoms will be out in August so probably the end of the month.
Charles, I will gladly take a ton of pics with my new camera and attempt a comparison of the two. I'll let you know when I get mine.

I received my GS-4 on Monday and it's an excellent runner right out of the box. Last month the 4449 passed near my home in Lake Oswego on it's way back to the Brooklyn Yard roundhouse a few miles away. The deep sound of this MTH whistle was as loud and clear as the sound I heard from the real thing from a mile out. CLEAR PSA's (the beauty of Proto Sound 2. "Leaving Los Angeles" and "Arriving in San Francisco" plus a few other "suprises" ("Salinas, San Luis Obispo, Santa Clara(?)...)I always disliked the cities that were chosen for the MTH Premier GS-4 Daylight Pro-1 but they've made the West Coast proud with this route selection. That MTH Bantam GS-4 had "Portland" and "San Francisco" and I'd like to add something like that in the future. Of course, that's probably not a big deal to most of you. I like the adjustments for smoke and sound inside the smokebox. Easy access. I didn't think that the MARS light was included but its a fine addition, too. Unfortunately, I had only my Z-1000 power supply at hand so I couldn't get it up to a higher speed and I pulled no cars. I blew smoke rings from the stack. Ran with no problem on the LGB 1600 (or to some of you 16000) curves. So far and coming from a 4449 "freak", MTH gets my vote (once again Lionel has missed the boat). Anyone else had the same luck? Anything negative or to look out for? I can reply when I return from fishing... |

I've posted some additional pictures that is closer to what the color looks like.
I'm going to get the Accucraft and put them side by side. More to come.
Please note the link has just changed.

Raymond, ALL RIGHT it showed up!!!!!
My friend just got back from Gatlinburg Tennessee, the daylight is $1199 that is RIGHT $1199.( Holy Toledo BATMAN )
Glad I DON'T live in Tennessee.
Has anyone had a problem with the engine running OPPOSITE direction?
I contacted MIKE at MTH, he told me there is a polarity switch, inside the front, next to the Sound & Smoke controls.
The Polarity switch is NOT mentioned in the Instructions.
Raymond use LGB smoke that seems to blow REAL BIG plums for me.
Put the smoke volume on MAXIMUM it is AWESOME.(ofcourse you will use more fluid but its worth it)
Raymond, How many hours run time do you have on your engine?
I have 10 hours, so far.
P.S. We need to start a NEW post about LIKES/DISLIKES about this engine. |

It did! The long wait is over. :)
I'm going to try and work on some photos to show what the actual colors are of the engine to compare them to the real thing. Anyone who is considering getting one of these engines should see how it really looks before buying.
I'm also working on a full review, but will say for now that if I had known the colors would be florescent pink for red and florescent orange for orange, I really don't think I would have bought it.
For everyone who has purchased one and totally loves their engine, enjoy it! This is not a dig at your taste or opinion, just my own feelings. Again, if you like your engine, enjoy it thoroughly! :) I just think that those considering a purchase may want to really know what they look like before dropping the money. In short, I'm very unhappy with the way it looks. The pictures on MTH's site do not correctly represent the actual colors of my engine. I've seen multiple paintings, many many many videos, literally hundreds of pictures from almost every kind of camera, and have a $3000 Accucraft version of the engine and I can honestly say, the actual colors are nowhere near what they've painted mine.
After I post some pictures that accurately represent the MTH colors, I'd like to hear from those who had seen the prototypes long before they came out to see if this is what it really looked like. (I realize that monitor differences and camera exposure times can affect the colors a bit.)

Raymond,
Thankks for posting the movie. I'd sure like to see it done like your Challenger movie with the camera car! The smoke and Mars lights sure are neat! Does it have the air horn sounds?
