About Me
Started model railroading in HO scale during the late 50's as a kid. History major at The Ohio State University, 1969. Then nine years as a helicopter pilot in the USMC. Currently work as a computer trainer. Now building the Dulles & Reston Garden Weeds R.R. - "The Dandy Line" (get it? - dandelion?) here in Northern Virginia.

Have you been to the Virginia Museum of Transportation yet?
It's conveniently located in Downtown Roanoke, Virginia just minutes from Interstate 81 on I-581/220 South. Look for the long building with the Jupiter Rocket beside it on one end.

If you're lucky enough (as I was) to find interesting items online like these, there's no limit to the interesting flatcar loads you can create. I also model in 1:20.3 scale and for an earlier era (circa 1912) but maybe these pix will give you some ideas you can use.

After I completed my Victorian water tower, I needed a pump house to fill it with water. Question was: how to "power" the pump.In the days before electricity was readily available, stationary steam engines were sometimes used to power pumps that brought water up from below ground.
