Metallic, Streamlined Curves and Futuristic Looks. That was the wave of the 1950's. The Aerotrain was to be the answer for sagging rail travel. We know now that it wasn't. Considered a failure, the Aerotrain failed to convince the public that General Motors knew all the answers. In 10 short years from the nation wide tours, test trials on a handful of railroads and the last few years in commuter service, the end came with the donation of the two train sets to museums. This 1:29th scale model is nearly 100% scratch built. A modified EMD Bloomberg Truck from a USA Trains F3 supplies the power. Built from styrene, putty, and resin castings. Photo was taken with a cheapy HP 315 Photosmart digital with a closeup lens from a Ricoh 35mm camera held in front of the digital lens. Very Hightech eh??? |
