The first feature already exists. The back side of my house is at the top of the hill. A large pond is at the bottom of the hill. This shot, taken before construction began, is taken from the back side of the pond looking over the pond up toward the back of the house. The NPC GRR will begin at the top of the hill, traverse the hill and circlle the pond once fully complete.

Work that integrates the large pond with the rest of the layout won't begin until roadbed construction extends down the hill and reaches the top of the pond in this photo. That construction is slated for 2009 or later.
The second water feature involves two relatively small landscape ponds connected by a stream. The ponds will occupy the area in the following photo.

The upper pond will occupy the space to the right of the hose at the top of the photo. From there a stream will run along the main line in the crnter of the photo. It will enter the loop under a bridge will be placed across the abutments at the far left of the photo where the track dips. The lower pond will be located within the loop (mulched area) in the center of the photo. A branch line will enter from the left, extending onto a dock placed on the lower holding pond. This dock will represent San Quentin Landing, a paddle wheel steamer port used in the early days of the NPC. Development of this water features is scheduled for the summer of 2008. I'll post updates as construction proceeds. | | | Permalink | Trackback |
