I guess I'm confused.

I have a couple of hundred feet of the the stuff down and have had none of the problems you described.

If I had photos, and a way to post them, I would.
Could also be that I'm trying to drive into solid clay.
Back yard used to be a river bed at one time, so I've heard.
Nothing but good solid clay to make it real easy to work with!

Still, I'm having major problems with the stuff. The one thing that would really make things nice, is a full refund of my purchase price.
Still can't believe I spent $300 on this trash, only to have to rip it out and throw it in the trash.

Count me as 1 more than extremely disappointed user.
Already contacted them, and let them know as well.
Hope others will spread the word as well, as to how bad this stuff really is.

Keith,

Have you spoken to Split Jaw about your problems? What do they suggest? I use the ladder method on a PT 2x4 frame- work and have tried to keep things absolutely level, but I can't. There is just too much warpage with the wood, even though I picked out perfect 2x4's. Once they get to drying out, they start to move around and warp/twist in the heat (they even warped in our mild winters). I run ng steam and just decided to let it go as 1, I couldn't fix it and 2, it helps with the ng flavor. Can you use a file or rasp like tool to smooth your joints? Will the 1/16 th of an inch even matter? If a tie misses this area, will you even know it's there? I hope you will find a suitable resolve to your problem. Please let us know what you decide to do. Could you please post some photos of your problems? Thanks for your post.

Keith,

Sent message early Sat AM. Hope to hear back early this coming week.
Will see what they have to say about the situation.

Roadbed I have is PVC plastic. No warping etc....from water and more. I think the warp I have, is from the heat of the sun during the day. But, since I have not yet fastened roadbed to support pipes, that could also be part of the problem.

I run ng steam and just decided to let it go as 1, I couldn't fix it and 2, it helps with the ng flavor. Can you use a file or rasp like tool to smooth your joints? Will the 1/16 th of an inch even matter? If a tie misses this area, will you even know it's there?

These joints are not bad. It's the SIDES that are off. Still track should line up pretty good. And misalignments would be covered by dirt, ballast etc....so any minor problems there would not be seen.

I hope you will find a suitable resolve to your problem. Please let us know what you decide to do. Could you please post some photos of your problems? Thanks for your post.

I'm gonna check things out tomorrow sometime. Maybe once I start getting things together on a more permanent basis, the problems I have will go away. After unloading, as I did, it could also be that I'm partly at fault!! But, easy to get frustrated, when I'm the only one doing the work. No one else close that could help. As for photos, I'll see what I can do.

I've have over a 1,000' of the original roadbed I bought from Rocky in 2002 down and have not had any of the problems (other than some minor warping) you are describing either. My backyard is a sloping hillside with Virginia red clay over rock. I didn't do any digging, just drove the pvc pipe in until it was solid. I have since gone back and removed the pipe and replaced it with trestle bents.

Some of Rocky's original product was prone to warp, but when Jerry took over after Rocky's death, he figured out how to CNC cut it with the grain going the right way.

Have been attempting to get roadbed down.
Had to dig a 12" deep trench first, then
dig deeper holes with a post hole digger.

This was required so I could get the PVC
pipe in place that would eventually hold the track.
Just under half done, and seriously thinking of ripping out
what I've got done to date. Finding out the stuff is useless and worthless!!!

It seems clear that you did not follow the directions for placing pipe. In any event, I have seen none of the problems you describe. It does take care to get the roadbed level in both directions, but once fixed in place, it stays there.

Due to major medical problems, any continuing work on layout is on indefinite hold.

Been in hospital since last Monday. Diagnosed with blood clot in left leg and lungs.

Right now, things are looking pretty good.

Yes, I'm doing/feeling pretty good right now. Been able to get out and walk around a little bit the last day or so.

MIGHT have the chance at going home tomorrow.
Won't know until tomorrow AM.

So, at this point, just about ALL of my activities are on hold until further notice from Dr.
