|  Congratulations to Doug Cheaney, winner of the $200 gift certificate to WholesaleTrains.com in our Leap Year Special drawing. I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank everyone that participated in the special and renewed for multiple years, and especially our lifetime members. We raised more than enough with the sale to purchase a new powerful server with a full warranty and support contract. We're already seeing the benefits of the new hardware, and more is to come. Thanks also goes out to Mark K, a member who assisted in the procurement of the server and got us a screaming deal that I would not have been able to find other wise. What an incredible community we have here!

Emmett, our faithful mascot and railroad tourist is out and about again. Do you know where he is? Have a closer look at the image in the forum and place your best guess. The winner receives a gold star on their forehead! You've got to not only guess the location, but find it in Google Earth and post the coordinates.
Finally, a note about the forums and the problems we've had recently with stability. Yesterday, I disabled the rich text editor on the reply and new topic pages. This particular piece was the cause of a lot of headaches and compatibility problems. Until I can get a new editor in place, we're back to a regular text box like before. I'm working on getting all the old forum code working so you can use the old forum code to format your text, post images, and links. In addition to disabling the text editor, I disabled a piece of code that automatically converts urls into links in the forum. It turns out that this little piece of code was causing the server to crash when someone tried to make a post with 5 or more images in it. I will also work on that code to see if I can get it working again. Disabling these two "bells and whistles" should improve stability drastically on the site. I've already seen improvment. Once things have died down, I'll reintroduce these features after I've had time to correct them and fully test them. I'd like to express a "Thank you" to everyone for their patience as we're still cutting our teeth on this new system. Things are getting better. In time, all these changes will make myLargescale.com even better. There are lots of cool things at the end of the tunnel.. Just you wait! | |
