| Never lived in your area so I can't say that I ever heard of the line but.....
Back in my home town of Elmhurst IL and several other cities and towns on the line, they took the old Chicago, Aurora and Elgin line and made it into a bike path. Think it was actually in 1969 that it opened. It started on the Elmhurst/Berkley line and went west. Now it goes to both Elgin and Aurora. Made it all the way out to the split once 50 miles round trip.
If ya'll might remember we have the old Petersburg Richmond and the Seaboard "S" Line that once ran through pur back yard. There was talk about reactivating the right of way for SEHSR but that seems to have fallen by the wayside. There is still talk by the city to put in a bike path.
As much as I enjoyed the one in the Chicago area, I can';t imagine nor do we wish to have one in our back yard. It's nice just the way it sits now. As part of our yard and over growth beyond to keep us divided from the county and the neighbor busybody.LOL | |

| Joe,
Yeah, but if they did put it in, think about this: Your BB neighbor wouldn't focus on all your actions...she'd be too busy putting up a toll booth for the folks that want to go whizzing past her place on their bikes!! Also, it'd be a lot harder for them to put in any kind of train line or fiber optic, etc.. Those crazy bike people have got themselves organized...
