| The current PA I have is on transfer from the St Paul Office. His "Significant Other" has caused us no end of problems... First she found out that he was the PA to our only female site mgr AKA "Debs the Magnificent". Then she found out why; Debs was not married, (but is going through "Brides Magzine" etc in preparation for June 17th), had green hair, and a wonderful beautiful baby daughter...
After some internal re-arrangement Debs and I swapped PAs and all went well. Chrismas came and went HE had a break back to St Paul and we are now ready for the annual onslaught, (the end/start of the financial year). I have just returned from doing some work at my office and I found them there. I sat down at my desk in my denims, "fishing jumper", and hiking boots. I did a little work and I lip read what was going on at the other end.
When she had gone I motioned him to me. "I do not interfere with the life of my staff -but she does not return here again and I will re-issue you with a pass code for the door. I am having it changed daily -when you leave".
The way the company is organised is one of semi autonomous offices each reporting back to Berne and we co-operate with each other. I have no problems with someone seeking a higher paid position, this is afterall a competitive business. But, when you step through that door into my staff you bring nothing with you but your talents and leave with hopefully far more experience.
And that is all....
I have written his letter, (enclosing his P45), and sent a copy to Berne and Paris, he will be on the first flight Friday back to the US. It is a shame -but that is how it is. He may still get a job with the company that his "Significant Other" has arranged for him. But he will do so without photostats...
I am now "out" a PA at the most difficult time of the year. I am on prearranged holiday with my son and wife (we are decorating!). The piles of @@@@ will have in all certainty have erupted in my direction because of this -but I have no regrets in doing it.
